MUA Undressed palette

In Holland we can buy MUA for a few months now. I’ve been waiting so long for this moment, because I can recommend all the palettes to you. They are just so cheap and pigmented. This palette is also called the dupe of the Urban Decay naked 1 palette.

 

Undressed is a twelve pan palette consisting of neutral colours in glitter, matte and shimmer formulas. The whole packaging reminds me of the sleek palettes, the size of the palette and the 12 round pans. I like that they made the top of the packaging transparent plastic, so you can see the colours without opening it.

 

The eye shadows are very pigmented, creamy and easy to blend. There are a lot of warm colours, and a few cold colours in this palette. Unfortunately there are only 2 matte colours and they have the least pigment. But the shimmer and glitter colours are so beautiful. I can make a lot of eye looks with this palette, and the eye shadows stay all day without floating away. Of course you need an eye shadow base under the eye shadows.

This is only one of the palettes they sell. After reviewing this one I have such an urge to buy all of their palettes. But I won’t! Haha because I´m stronger than this urge.

help you study

My exams will start next week and I am a person who gets distracted easily. I went and asked some people how they study and I have to say I got a few good tips. I will use these tips to see what works best for me. I thought it would be helpful to share these tips with you as well.

Start your day with deciding what your goals are for the day. Most important of all on top of the list, less important at the end of the list. This way you have a general idea of what’s important today and what can wait till tomorrow.

Breaks are very important. Taking a break every two hours will get you more focused when you start studying again. You can go outside and walk a block or watch your favorite TV-show. You can go to the gym because your brain relaxes as soon as you start to sport. Studying is reading for most of the time, so it wouldn’t be relaxing to read a book in your break.

Also very important is eating; eat healthy foods with natural proteins and a lot of fibers, so you have lots of energy to study. This will help you a long way to concentrate on your studying. Plan three times a day you will eat a big meal, than you have no excuse to not do eat. And eat fruits and nuts during the day. They contain extra minerals en vitamins so you feel awake.

Drinking water is just as important as eating. Drink a glass of water with every cup of coffee or tea. Why? Because your concentration drops at 2% fluid loss, if you get thirsty you’re already too late.

Make sure your room is clean and structured as soon as you start to study. This will help you be more focused, you know how it goes: “OMG, I thought I lost that top bus it was just lying under the bed ”. NO! You will feel terrible at the end of the day, when you didn’t study anything at all.

Studying means you’re sitting behind a desk all day and only get some exercise in the breaks. Your posture has to be in the right position all day so be alert when you start to hang down leaning on your desk.

Studying at night is not a good idea. Your brain knows it’s night time and that means it’s almost bedtime and  then you will get sleepy unknowingly.  Your brain gets activated with daylight so it’s much better to study during the day.

Studying when you’re tired will only get you more frustrated because you will not remember anything. If you really had to go to that party last night, it’s way more efficient to sleep two hours longer in the morning. This way you can start studying fresh.

Make sure you find the way you can study the best. You can study with flashcards, a lot of reading or to synthesize the material. Everybody has a way that is easier for themselves, make sure you find your own way.

Something that I’ve learned from a friend of mine is to reward yourself after you studied something big or a lot. Make sure you make up the reward before you start studying, this way you have something to look forward to.

That thing called anxiety

I know there are a lot of people who struggle with anxiety. And I think a sort of anxiety hit me too, like a stinging bee which got lost in the floral field. You worry about big things, but also really small things that are just a part of ‘normal’ life. You make things a lot bigger than they are. Like a fish becoming a shark, that takes over the sea.

There are days I don’t even want to go out of bed. I feel really lonely and bored. Feel like I am not good enough. And I am scared for the things to come. Like doing a presentation with two other people in front of a class of only 10 people. ‘What are they thinking now’, ‘they must think I am really stupid saying that’, are my thoughts during something like that. My brain becomes a haunted house, haunted by my own thoughts. The cruelest words about me, come from my own mouth. I am always worrying about what people think of me, even during a normal conversation. Especially when people ask me to tell something more about myself. I used to want everybody to like me. But now I know that that isn’t possible and it doesn’t matter if someone doesn’t like you. You don’t have to marry everyone. I find it really hard to remind myself of those things and to be…. just me. But I know I just have to be one of a kind. One that I am happy with and which I am proud of.

Some months ago my anxiety soared as high as a skyscraper. Nowadays I try to get rid of it by just some little things. Doing one thing every day that scares me. Saying to that girl in the bathroom that she looks really nice or her hair is really beautiful. Or asking that girl in the hallways where she bought that beautiful dress or shoes. Leaving the house with barely some make up on and remembering that it’s oke for not trying to be perfect. So if you got stung by a bee as well and your brain is a haunted house, try these things. Maybe it will help you to be a little bit more confident and maybe… just maybe the anxiety will fade away. I know that it has helped me a little bit. It’s just awful to constantly worry about every little thing. With those things I hope I will do bigger things much easier and I can easily speak in front of a big crowd. Apart from that I think that if you’ve convinced yourself that you are a confident person by doing those little things, you will actually become one. I know that that’s really hard and I still have to work on that too. But that is one of my ultimate goals. Rianne ones said to me: ‘’If you think you’ve said something stupid, it doesn’t make you stupid.’’ At first I thought: what the hell are you talking about. But it has actually helped me a lot.

I said that not everybody can like you, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be nice to people. It’s important to live day by day and try to enjoy of everything, because that can all change in just one second. Know that everything happens for a reason and in the end it will all work out well. You are the one yourself who looks back at your life, when your body is outdated. Do what makes you happy and don’t let anxiety or depression or anything take that away, even if you can’t be 100% happy. But be nice to people, because you don’t know which bee they got stung by.

Find out if a guy likes you

I know sometimes it’s very hard to tell if that very cute guy likes you. You are afraid to ask him because you are okay with being friends or you are ashamed when he says no. Well I have a list of tips that will make it a lot easier for you.

He looks at you a lot
Every time you look at him; he is looking back at you, and he is smiling like a freaky clown with a way to big smile. Even though you should have noticed this, this is one of the most important things.

He laughs at all of your jokes
Even when everybody else isn’t laughing, he says he thinks it’s funny. Well let me tell you this: he does not think it’s funny, he is laughing to please you. He thinks that you will like him we he does this.

He jokes about dating you
He says thinks like “Wouldn’t it be funny and so awkward if we started dating hahaha”.  This is actually not a joke ladies. This is a subtle hint from his side. 

He asks questions about your life
Not only “did you have a good weekend?” but things like “Do you want to have children?”. It’s a little awkward that he asks things like this because it’s very personal. He wants to know because he’s figuring out if you have a future together.

He calls you
Most guys really hate talking on the phone. This means one of three things: you’re his very best friend, he needs help with for instance his homework or he really likes you.

He asks you to ‘hang out’
‘Hanging out’ just the two of you is obviously a date. Men are scared of the word date because it makes thing very official.

He compliments you
Compliments about your outfit or hair is a sign that he really likes you. Men don’t notice these things, but really liking a girl can change things.

He tries to be funny
The moment he cracks a joke, he looks at you to see if you think it’s funny. It’s important for a guy that the girl he likes, is into the same humor.

He talks to your friends about you
He asks them questions about things he likes to know or is giving them hints that he likes you. The point in this is that your friends can tell you he talked about you. (yes, even when you’re an adult, love and stuff is still like kinder garden.)

He asks you what you think about certain other guys
This way he is trying to find out if you like another guy. Probably because he wants to tell you he likes you, soon.

He always uses your name when he talks to you
“Yes, I had a good weekend, Jesse” it’s a little scary because no one else uses your name to you that much. This means he is crazy about you and loves saying your name.

Getting your take on relationships could be his crafty way of finding out what you like and don’t like. Also it could be he is making you jealous.

He acts more mature when you’re around
He really cares what you think about him and keeps his ‘childish’ side far away from you. (This really depends on the age of the guy)

He notices and remembers things about you
He compliments you when you dyed your hair. He knows your birthday. What you wore on an important day. Average Joe won't remember that shit, even if you tell him. Hot For You remembers all of it.

He touches you
When you’re talking he lays his hand on your arm, when you’re walking together he puts his hand on your lower back. If you find a guy's hand on you, especially more than once, he really likes you.

Clothing Haul

Forever 21 is now more than a month in The Netherlands and I’ve been there twice already. The clothes they sell are just really awesome. So I am going to do a clothing haul, because I’ve bought a lot of cool stuff this month.

So this is my favourite piece hanging in my closet right now. This dress from Forever21 is light pink and is a little bit shimmery. That’s probably why I love it so much. And it looks really nice. I think it was around €20, so totally worth it!

This is another dress from Forever21, also around €20. It’s brown with a pattern on it, which I really adore. You can wear it in the summer and winter. Then you just throw a cardigan on and put on some leggings or high-knee socks.

This red dress is from H&M, which I think was only €15!. It’s looks really cute on and is really comfortable. Lately I am really in to the colour red. Sometimes I just have some weird times or periods that I want to wear a certain colour every day. And I have no idea where that came from. But, this red dress is just really really beautiful!

Next is this high-waisted skirt, from Forever21 as well, probably around €15. I was looking for a skirt like this for a long long time. But here it is! It has a zipper on the back. And actually I think it’s a little bit short, but it’s beautiful though!

Here we go! Red! This top (€20) is from Forever21 (what a surprise) and is the most beautiful top I’ve ever seen. It falls really nice when I have it on and the colour is perfect as well. 

Another top (€25) from Forever21, with daisies. It looks really girly. One little disadvantage is that you can’t throw it in the washer. And, I speak from experience badly enough. So it has shrunk. Fortunately I can still wear it :) !

This denim jumpsuit (€30) is from H&M. I was looking for something like this a long time as well. When I saw it, I immediately had to get it. I don’t know when or with what I am going to wear it yet. But it’s really nice.

These two accessories are from Forever21. The long golden necklace was around €10 and the little bag I think was €30. Lately I am always taking this bag, when I need to go somewhere fast.  I haven’t worn this necklace yet, but I know I will!

This little necklace is from River Island (€10). It’s a teeny tiny coin and it’s a simple necklace that I can wear with almost everything. This year I am really in to gold jewelry.  

Last, those shoes (€80) are my friends now. They are so cool and different and I just really like them. They have a crocodile pattern and they are made of soft leather. I bought them in Amsterdam in a shoe store called ‘Taft’ and the shoes are from the brand ‘Poelman’.

movie reviews #1

Watching movies is one of my hobby’s and I know how annoying it is to have watched a movie that was very bad. It’s a waste of time and in that time you could have watched another movie. Or doing something else of course hahaha!  So, that’s why I like to share my already watched list once in a while. I try to write so spoiler-free as possible, so sometimes I will not tell the whole movie story.

Divergent

In a world far into the future, society is divided into five factions and all of them represent a different virtue. Teenagers have to choose whether they want to stay in their born faction or switch to another one, this choice is a decision for the rest of their lives. The decision is based on a test in virtual reality and on what they want for themselves. In this test Tris Prior discovers she is divergent and has no clue  what she will choose. Is she going to choose for her family or is she going to leave them behind?

I really enjoyed watching Divergent because it’s an adventurous movie that is easy to watch. The decor that shows Chicago in the future is very believable and that made me immediately very excited. The storyline is very good but a little predictable, especially the love stuff is not a surprise. They left out a few things, that were in the book, but that’s always the case. The movie is worth watching and I really recommend it to the people who haven’t seen it yet.

The 100 year old man who climbed out of the window

Allan karlsson ends up in a nursing home after he lived a long and eventful life. He thinks this will be his last stop and he will die here. On his 100 birthday he decides to escape from the home. He buys a bus ticket with the last penny’s he has left in his pocket. While he is waiting for the bus a strange looking guy dumps his suitcase with Allan and goes to the bathroom. Allan decides to take the suitcase with him when the bus arrives. And that’s where the journey begins. He comes face to face with murder and drugs. But he also meets a few very good friends on this trip.

This is a very funny story, very unlikely but still funny. My friend, who took me to see this one had read the book and really liked to see this one. We went to watch this one in the cinema, and in the beginning I noticed the filming quality was not at all good. But it was an easy to follow movie, so when you need to relax and you want a movie were you don’t have to think that much, this movie is perfect for those moments.

3 days to kill

Ethan Renner is a CIA agent who is told that he is dying. He decides to go to Paris and reconnect with his estranged wife and daughter. His wife is giving him another chance and so he is allowed to look after his daughter while his wife goes out of town for a few days. He promised his wife that he stepped out of the CIA, but while she’s gone a woman approaches him and tells him about a new kind of drug that might help him. In return he has to find a man he was looking for for years.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was surprising, not at all predictable and sometimes funny. The beginning was for me, the wow-moment of the movie. It’s an action movie most of the time but also some humor is in there. I think that’s a very good combination. Yeah, if you like a little action you should watch this movie.

Monuments men

During World War II, Frank Stokes learns that Hitler is stealing all of the great works of art for his personal museum. So Stokes recruits 6 men who are each art experts and they go to Europe under the guise of being soldiers to find out where the art that was taken is. But the Russians are also looking for this valuable art, and the Germans are ordered to burn all of the art when they lose the war.

This movie is based on a true story, for me that always makes it a little more interesting to watch. When I found out George Clooney was one of the actors, this movie became number one on my must watch list. I did not know what to expect, but while I was watching I almost fell asleep twice. The movie takes so long before something happens. Honestly I did not like this movie and got a little bored watching it, but there is a good story behind it.

This is just my opinion, so it could be you have another opinion about these movies. Nothing wrong with that! I am very honest with these things and I hope you appreciate that. Did you watch one of these movies? Did you enjoy these movies? What movie de you recommend?

Favourite scents

We all love some good scents and I personally can’t live without them. I am finding new ones all the time, so I am going to share my favourite perfumes that have claimed a place in my room.

I will start off with my all-time favourite. It’s ‘Loverdose’ by Diesel. This scent is so amazing; I am addicted. The perfume is a little spicy and smells like liquorice. The bottle looks so lovely and awesome as well. The colour and the shape are so beautiful. The duration of this perfume is really great. Everyday this heart is looking at me questioningly and asking me to be used.

Next is ‘Fresh blossom ’ by DKNY. Also this perfume smells amazing. The scent is like fresh blossoms ( surprise, surprise..) and reminds me of the summer. This one is already pretty old, but I still love it. This perfume lasts pretty long as well. This bottle is also really beautiful and really looks like it smells good, which it does. 

This cute small piece of spring, floral and garden blasts is definitely one of my favourites. It's 'Salvatore Ferragamo' by Signorina.The scent really elegant and the bottle looks really nice on my perfume shelf. I have a really tiny bottle, but I will certainly buy a big one.

I have got this one for a really long time now, but I fell in love with it again. ‘Seductive’ by Guess. I don’t think the bottle is really amazing, but it’s still beautiful though. Normally I am more of the ‘fresh scents’, but this one has got me loving it. Although the scent is heavier and more mysterious. 

These are two perfumes that I really want to buy soon. They both smell so amazing, that I will regret myself not buying them. I got these little testers for free, when I bought something else in a perfume store. ( huge thanks to the store!)The first/left one in the picture is ‘Legend’ by Mont Blanc. I can’t explain to you how good this perfume smells. I am always wearing this one to special occasions only, because there isn’t many of it. It reminds me of woods, floral, vanilla and fruits. So it’s a really fresh and girly scent, which I really love. The second/right one in the picture is ‘Le petite robe noire’ ( eau de parfum couture) by Guerlain. I already see it appearing on my shelf, because it’s the first thing I will buy soon. The scent consists of fresh floral notes with ultra-defined woody notes and a touch of raspberry. I have already seen the bottle and it looks amazing. Last, the duration gets four stars from me!
